The Pony Shop CX team launches second season with fresh partners

PSCX Team is back for their second UCI cyclocross season in 2018, now under the team name, The Pony Shop p/b KPMG.

The Pony Shop (Evanston, IL) and team manager, Lou Kuhn, have long been sponsoring riders on the UCI circuit. Andrew Giniat and Lily Williams (26 and 24, Asheville, NC) return to the team and will race 10 UCI weekends throughout the fall. The two riders join the ranks of the Pony Shop’s Chicagoland team, and will work with junior riders at clinics, races, and practices throughout the season.

2017 netted three UCI podiums, almost 200 UCI points, and a top-10 at elite nationals for the PSCX Team. The schedule will expand this fall to include more C1 races as well as trip to Spain in November for a taste of international cyclocross. Along with Giniat and Williams, returning partners include Cannondale, Carborocket nutrition, DeFeet socks, and Bike Index, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit bicycle registry.

Notable partner additions for 2018 include KPMG, Champion System, SRAM, and Vittoria tires. The team’s new presented by sponsor, KPMG, is a professional service company that provides auditing, tax, and advisory services to private and public companies. KPMG also sponsors golf legends, Phil Mickelson and Stacy Lewis.

KPMG snagged the coveted side panel logo slot on the new kit design, produced by Champion System apparel. Champion System has worked with a number of professional cycling teams around the world to produce eye-catching and comfortable cycling apparel. Champion System will be present at Trek CX Cup on September 22, the first full PSCX team event of the season.

SRAM and Zipp provided the componentry needed to compete at the American and international UCI level. The team will run SRAM CX1 groupsets, Zipp Service Course 30 wheels, and Service Course cockpits. The team will run a full suite of Vittoria tires, including their Graphene cotton Terreno Dry, Mix, and Wet tubulars. The team will ride the Cannondale SuperX for the second year.

Further new partners include Lazer helmets, S-Phyre shoes, Crankbrothers pedals, and Fizik bar tape. The team starts racing this weekend with Giniat at Nittany Lion Cross C2 weekend in Breinigsville, PA, and will then travel to Waterloo, WI where they will race the C2 and Williams will race the World Cup.
